Help me find what the name of this type of LED is called?

Found!

Hey, I know these exist (my work vehicles have them), but I cannot find one/know the name online.

It's a panel indicator LED, but has a knurled collar surrounding the LED that spins. When you spin the collar, a gate closes inside, dimming or obscuring the LED.

I've had no luck googling "dimmable panel indicator" or "gated panel indicator". It's likely a long shot posting here, but I figured I would try.

I have searched the catalog of an online electronics supply with no luck (although they have 13k different panel indicators, but their filter options only supplied 4 auto dimming ones, with no option or search result for "dimming" or "gated" panel indicators).

They are common in military vehicles to reduce light pollution, but I figure there is no way it's a purpose built part for the army.

I'll try and get a photo of one.

Yeah that's it! Unfortunately it doesn't seem like a non milspec/consumer grade equivalent exists. (If anyone finds one hmu).
