Pro Series 850 - Fan issue

Fired up my Pro Series last weekend and something sounded wrong. Auger worked fine and the fire lit but after a while I realized the fan wasn’t working after a year and a half of ownership.

I haven’t been able to get underneath and check out all the connections, but have others experienced this? Should I just purchase a replacement fan (is install tough?) or is this typically solved by ensuring connections are tight? I’m at work, and do not have photos but will later, just trying to get an idea.

I had to replace my fan on my 850. It was during Covid, PitBoss sent me one for free but they were really backed up then and it took weeks for me to get it. I ended up buying one for like $20 at Lowes and replaced it. Installing was pretty easy a few screws and a wire harness to plus in. Now I have a backup if it happens again.

How was the replacement process? Pretty cut and dry? I haven’t gotten a chance to look at the fan under the grate just yet.

It’s been a while since I did it. I think you remove the hopper (just a couple screws) and then the fan housing had four screws and the wire harness plug. Pretty straight forward I’m sure someone has a YouTube video on it. You might need a bucket or something to rest the hopper on when you remove it.

It’s rather simple, plus PB puts out official repair videos on you tube that explain everything very well. If I were you, I would contact them and get a warranty replacement, but it may take a while to receive. If you need to use it in the meantime, order an aftermarket from Amazon, and use the warranty replacement as a backup.
