Story Untold

Poem

There is this story

That I haven’t yet told

I need to get it off my chest

So I can let it go

I need to take back my light

That I allowed you to steal

All the pain and distortion

So I can continue to heal

So ashamed and so confused

Emotionally broken and mentally bruised

I will never again allow myself to be so affected

I will never again put myself in the position to be so rejected

I tried to push my feelings aside

I tried to run

I tried to hide

When I push it deep enough

It goes away

Then comes back full force

As if it were yesterday

I need to be done

Once and for all

I fear that if not

I will never stand tall

I want to be brave

I want to be strong

With this in my head

I won’t be for long

Quite an interesting poem the like that i would write. It has some of my own toughts the last few months. But one thing i would like to add is never to let anyone steal your light that you give, do not let yourself be afraid to shine for another.

That's good advice - I try not to provide opportunities, and they are getting further in between, thankfully <3 I wish you well, I don't envy people relating to me </3

This really was a truly bittersweet poem,it symbolizes and tells the story of a past love, and how it effected the present. Art is an expression of oneself and their individually wide range of emotions and experiences, with this poem,it really aborbs you into the grief and especially uncertainty which comes with such a loss and yet it expressee hope, and desire for change, which makes this poem profoundly touching.

Great job.

I hope it's okay to do this, but I am going to show this to my psychologist next week, it perfectly explains something I've been trying to say for months! Thank you, this poem is brilliant.

I wrote something similar a few years ago, but it didn't have the same weight. I think it's the repetition and punchy short lines. The longer passage in the middle really makes the weight more impactful too, it's great :)

Wow!! - I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing for you, considering my content but I really hope it helps!! <3

I have an affinity for poems that explore the “dark side” and this would be that. I love the compounding of that darkness you achieve by never revealing “it”. Pushing it down, wringing all that angst from it; twisting it in your hand while talking about it and not allowing us a glimpse and in doing so actually imposing that angst onto your readers! Clever and affective. The straight forward, conversational style can feel manipulative toward a normalizing sense of it but in this it maintains all the slippery speed and makes us far more the guilty voyeurs hungry for the reveal and feeling our dissatisfaction after finishing slowly becoming shame, like the bitter finish of a poisoned wine.

I'm flattered. Thank you <3 I loved reading this comment, my heart :)

The repetition pulls the poem together and adds emphasis on strong feelings.

I need to take back my light That I allowed you to steal.

This was the line where I fell in love with this poem. This perfectly sums up so many emotions I can relate to. The important and difficult thing is to not let the story repeat!

Keep your important advice in mind! I manifested this poem 100x the strength of the emotions after it was written...now I know better...I thought I did then
