My Heart is a Fiddle
My heart is a fiddle; it sang only for you
Crescendoed with passion unequal to
Vivaciously trilled and poetically wept
Beneath your confident, critical hand
**
But I was mistaken in letting you hear
My pure, lively tones, so gentle and clear;
You are no musician I realized too late
My luthier’s talent was not to your taste
**
You tossed me aside to admire another
Cracking my side in a splintering shatter
In that heartbreaking moment my sound was maimed
My beautiful tones so painfully strained
**
I’ve since been repaired, but damage is done
My song overshadowed, the music is gone
Musicians have tried; I cannot sing
My voice cannot soar with a broken wing
**
I now await someone to remove my case,
Perhaps heal my cracks, not leaving a trace
But I hope you know that this much is true,
My heart is a fiddle; it sang only to you
Written about experiences from years ago.
