Expedition 8 not fully converting to normal save?

My boyfriend and I completed Expedition 8 last week (our first expedition in NMS) once completed, it automatically converted to a normal save, giving the end of expedition message stating it was converting to a normal save file. Loading in to the game, we can select that playthrough and it shows "Normal" next to the save file, but when the save is loaded it pops up with the end of expedition message (again) and says it'll be converted to a normal save.

We are trying to play on that converted save together, but instead of letting us join with our new "normal" save it tries to get us to start a new expedition. The game says that we are hosting a "community expedition" save even though we have completed it.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue or has an answer for why it's doing this?
