Why do I not play people my skill?

Question :snoo_thoughtful:

I’m in spring training but I play people with outrageously good teams who can hit and pitch like it’s nothing.

The team that a player uses has no impact on matchmaking

Well why do I play people who hit too good for spring training lmao

Because Spring Training is veteran difficulty and that’s typically a lower skill level than what the vast majority of people play on.

My guess is it could be higher level players just starting their new ranked seasons

Once you pass spring training it’s impossible to go back if I remember correctly

Ahh ok, my bad.

Well how are these people so good it’s been almost 5 in a row where they hit so good and I can barely even get on base

It's on veteran so the PCI's are massive and the ball comes in slowly. If they've played a bit, it's basically batting practice, if you're new to the game, it's probably still kinda tough. Play the CPU on all star, then those veteran vs human games should be much easier. BUT human's are pretty different from the CPU ai and will pick up on what you're doing or cant hit and exploit it. If you're swinging at everything, they wont throw strikes, if you're only throwing the ball in the zone, they'll destroy it with that massive PCI.

Lots of practice and weeks of in-game play

Press left on the d pad when searching and it will keep you from getting matched up with much higher rated players

8
campupOP•

What does that do if you don’t mind me asking

You know when you're searching for a ranked seasons game, and the low and high end numbers keep expanding? Pressing left on the d-pad prevents that, so your search stays closer to your rating

Thank you hopefully Ill get someone close to my level

It keeps your matchmaking low, if you let the bar increase it increases the gap between ranks you can play

3
campupOP•

Ohh okay thanks gonna keep that in mind

Keeps your match-up rating within +/- 67 of your current rating

I think it's mostly because most of the player base isn't newbies. Game is hitting the second half of its life cycle so don't be surprised if you only see God squads from here on out. Luckily no matter how good a card is it won't overshadow the skill of the player, a WS player could load up an all bronze team and smoke half the player base.

Baseball is just a hard game even brev and Kyle struggle he’ll some games I get 15 hits and win 13-0 other games I can’t locate my pci for shit

1
campupOP•

Yeah I’m rather new to mlb and the whole idea of hitting the way you can with the zone or just the one tap is so different compared to 2k.

Work on pci hitting offline first for sure. I had to use directional hitting whenever I played online for a good amount of games before I got the hang of the pci

Zealousideal_Peak654:bluejays: Was there a bit of a wrinkle to that?•

Did you watch that Cbrev video where he used his launch day squad and absolutely smashed a God Squad with a 90 overall team.

It’s probably people that have played events and BR all year on All Star difficultly and have finished everything available right now, so they’ve decided to play a few ranked games out of boredom. I seem to do this every year around this time. This was the only year I jumped in sooner

2
Hg0tti•

Lol I’m the opposite have 478 ranked seasons games this year currently 791 in current season and don’t touch br or events can’t stand those game modes I just buy the cards

1
campupOP•

So basically quit now and wait till the next game. Bet

You won’t get better without practicing. Play and few and eventually you’ll find people that are currently at your level.

3
campupOP•

Yeah I’ll give it a go again because I like the game it’s just this is one of the only games I’m not good at and it sucks

1
Brutal007•

Are you playing events?

1
campupOP•

Nah man just regular ranked seasons

1
Brutal007•

I guess your just getting unlucky, hopefully it turns around for you

1
campupOP•

Yeah hope so gotta keep playing I guess

Just keep playing. Go into custom practice on a higher level until you get it. Or progressively up the difficulties. Last year i started and had trouble on rookie with classic pitching and directional hitting. Casually changed the settings and moved up the difficulty. Now in 22 I regularly play the cpu on HOF or Legend.
