Jane Austen / Pride and Prejudice but make it gay?

Book Request

Hey all, I'm currently in a huge Pride & Prejudice / Jane Austen (or similar) mood and was wondering if anyone knows any retellings but with MM romance instead? Or just books that have really similar vibes, like enemies to lovers, differences in title or station, stuff like that.

I would prefer a similar time period over modern retellings, but anything works as long as it's good and not a movie. Fantasy, supernatural, etc, are okay too!

Not a book but a movie, and it is set in modern times, not historical (I’m really doing an awful job of ticking your boxes here, aren’t I?), but have you watched Fire Island the movie? It’s a modern day retelling of Pride and Prejudice.

My favorite thing about the movie is the quote “somehow I’m angry AND horny” which is the best summary of Pride and Prejudice I’ve ever heard.

I've seen it recommended (among some other movies) but right now I really need a book! Thank you anyways for taking the time to respond!

Anyta Sunday has the Love, Austen series, a very meta, modern retelling of Jane Austen books. I’ve only read the first one so far.

Lisa Henry has The California Dashwoods, which is a modern retelling of Sense & Sensibility.

Sally Malcolm has Perfect Day, which is a Persuasion retelling.

For historical, I think KJ Charles, Cat Sebastian and Joanna Chambers should fit the bill. I don’t believe any of their books are Pride & Prejudice inspired, but they do have a lot of Victorian/Regency HR with class differences.

Thanks, I will check those out!

I fear I've already read pretty much everything bit KJ Charles, Cat Sebastian, and also Joanna Chambers, and I love them, but I need more ><

Annabelle Greene writes MM Regency romance. She’s another one to check out.

Seducing the Sorcerer by Lee Walsh might be a good read for you if you don't know it. Fantasy, but with a historical vibe, and a lot of interesting class tension/strife. Salt Magic Skin Magic (also by Lee Walsh) is similar, both books that were really better than I anticipated.

Megan Derr is I think often recommended for this, and I'd call The High King's Golden Tongue a solid 4-star read. (Haven't read the rest of her stuff.)

King's Man: Outlawed 1 by Sally Malcolm is like K. J Charles lite, a tense and thoughtful political novel. Not as good as KJ, but who is?

Merry Farmer writes a lot of M/M in a similar time period, but I've never loved their stuff. Figure I should just name them in case, though.

{Something Fabulous by Alexis Hall} is a Regency RomCom and it hilarious and witty and full of some horrible characters that I ended up loving anyway 😅 it's also free of Kindle Unlimited!

For difference in title/station, you might want to check out {Mr Warren's Profession by Sebastian Nothwell}. It features a baronet falling in love with a clerk who's clawed his way out of the workhouse (and worse). It's an 1890s historical rather than a Regency but it's still 19th century, so perhaps?

thank you that sounds good!
