Maybe the Quincies are needed in the next arc [Spoiler]

SpoilerDiscussion

The ability to completely erase any trace of a soul is inherent to the quincies; and perhaps the Soul Society and Quincies fucked up by having a war with one another, leading to the almost extermination of Quincies.

Once sent to hell (because of an extreme possession of spiritual energy after death), the only true death is erasure from the verse, which only a Quincy can do to such beings from existence altogether, otherwise I see beings from hell continuing to be a threat so long as the world remains in control of the soul king in its current order and cycle.

Maybe not? What do you guys think? 🤔

They might introduce a new being from the depths of hell and I think the Gotei 13 Captains that died are like guardians of hell

Dude that'd be badass. Like a negative 0 division or something.

I don't think it's a hard and fast rule that they can only kill Hollows. It could be, and we've not had anything which proves it either way, but that feels like a bigger assumption than not.

To play devils advocate, Genryusai died by having his own Bankai stolen and used against him. To be fair with you, Ichibes death was sus, I gotta reread that part (lol studying bleach) 🤔

Yhwach never used his bankai. Ichibei was stabbed then blown up.

Well he cut Yams in half, he didn't destroy his soul using a pure Reishi Quincy arrow. I don't think it's ever been implied that total soul destruction is a passive train. I've always interpreted it as your latter theory.

Pretty sure he blasted Yamas body with arrows so hard there was no body left after slicing him in half.

I may be wrong, and I’m not saying it’s a reasonable answer for what you’re suggesting, but wasn’t the structure that was supposed to execute rukia basically does the same function?

Yeah, the Sokyoku evaporated souls from existence
