I don't think that it will be like that, it's not the style of Fujis, Dennis return was important for the plot and for the fan-base, Asa and Yoru is persuing him and needed the confirmation that he's still around because nothing was confirming that, only thing their got was rumors and nothing about his pattern of acting, Yoshida ''covering up'' his identity for him go to the same school maybe, and neither the students are aware that he's a young adult with 18, or even still in school. And for me it was perfect the timing just pushing more Asa development and comparing their philosophy around to persue what makes they feel good and altruistic for what they care or thinks it's the right choice.
Both of them saving a cat in a loose-win situation. Denji most for wanting to be a hunter and a good life/power nostalgia, Asa for accepting herself, wanting to feel what she thinks is right for her.
