Finishing Giovanni Research before September Yay or Nay?

Good afternoon kind folks.

I keep reading in the comments the advise to finish still open Giovanni research before end of August because otherwise "you don't get the new research". As far as I understood it until now, you DO eventually get the new research - just not September 1st but whenever you finish the previous research.

I'm asking because I am not at "Silent Schemes". The next Super Rocket Radar research after this is "Field Notes - Team Rocket": What exactly happens, if I do not complete these research tasks before end of August?

If silent schemes is your currently held quest, if you don't complete "silent schemes" before the end of August, you will never get "field notes TGR".

If you have field notes TGR already, you can hold it unfinished with no penalty if you don't want to use its radar for Latios, but you are now committed to catching one of the next legendary whenever the next rocket special research quest is available.

I had both silent schemes and field notes TGR and completed both. I used one radar to get Latios. Can I save the other radar until September 1st, or will this other radar I’m holding always give Latios?

The encounter is based on when you fight Giovanni, not when you got the radar. If you don't have any unfinished rocket quest left, definitely hold onto that super radar.

Nope, field notes Go Rocket will be completely unavailable after the current season ends. If you don't finish Silent Schemes before the end of August you will never get Field Notes Go Rocket.

Personally I am way behind, and it sounds to me like it is a no-brainer to go ahead and fight Giovanni before Sept. I have 4 radars in inventory, and I currently have A Seven Colored Shadow and Misunderstood Mischief and Masterwork Research: Apex open.

If you have all of those on the defeat giovanni step, you should definitely do it. Spend a single radar to finish 3 quests, and then you can pick up the Field Notes research that's available until the end of August so you can procrastinate on it. :D
