Replacement vacuum cleaner for my dad

Hey everyone. I'm looking to replace my dad's old vacuum from the 80s - the motor has gone. I'm probably looking for another upright vacuum cleaner, corded is fine, ideally not too heavy, and with attachments like a long hose so it's easy to reach the corners of the house. Perhaps a detachable element to make it easy for the stairs. He lives in an almost entirely carpeted three-bedroom house.

I'm UK based, ideally looking to spend £150-250 ($170-300ish).
