Once you reach the ‘top’ it can be a lonely place. Once you’ve reached your goal is almost difficult to know where to go. Tyson fury went into depression because he reached his dream and didn’t know what to do next. That’s what I took from this. Very nice

I've always thought about this but in a weird way. I don't necessarily believe in the Bible's God but I do remember some of the lessons I learned from the book. I think stories whether from other religions, myths, legends, etc... do hold merit in lessons. Just as Fables hold many lessons.

Anyway, the story was about people building a Tower to heaven. The end was that they couldn't reach heaven and in the end all the people were separated from the one original language into many languages.

I used to wonder the higher and higher you climbed even with people that eventually you would get lonely. I wonder about stuff like this especially talking with my brother about his interest in Space and the Elon Musk Mars Mission (Spacex). He said he would like to visit Mars but not live there cultivating it because after thinking about it I think eventually you would get lonely not seeing the people you know as friends and family. Children born on Mars if a colony were developed there one day might very well develop different languages and things that are very different. I'm reminded of movies like:

- Planet of the Apes.

Planet of the Apes '68

"And that completes my final report until we reach touchdown. We're now on full automatic, in the hands of the computers. I have tucked my crew in for the long sleep and I'll be joining them soon. In less than an hour, we'll finish our sixth month out of Cape Kennedy. Six months in deep space - by our time, that is. According to Dr. Haslein's theory of time, in a vehicle travelling nearly the speed of light, the Earth has aged nearly 700 years since we left it, while we've aged hardly at all. Maybe so. This much is probably true - the men who sent us on this journey are long since dead and gone. You who are reading me now are a different breed - I hope a better one. I leave the 20th century with no regrets. But one more thing - if anybody's listening, that is. Nothing scientific. It's purely personal. But seen from out here everything seems different. Time bends. Space is boundless. It squashes a man's ego. I feel lonely. That's about it. Tell me, though. Does man, that marvel of the universe, that glorious paradox who sent me to the stars, still make war against his brother? Keep his neighbor's children starving?"

Thank you for writing this poem! It really has me thinking! :)

This is an amazing poem. The way its written is descriptive and unique, and the perspective of this is refreshing almost. It almost seems like a short story and i can perfectly visualize it in my head. Please keep writing.

Really enjoyed this thanks for sharing. Great job at conveying a sense of and change in perspective. I felt a shift in movement in poem as well. The beginning feels very light fun and playful to me but the end of it felt dark, cold and motionless. The contrast works together nicely

I appreciate how succinct yet illustrative this poem is of desire. We always want something more, only to discover those feelings can lead us isolated and worse that before. In pursuit of our dreams, sometimes we come to hate our art, while only others still have the awe to appreciate it. I climb, I climb…

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).
