Close to me
In tangled sheets crisp with the scent of fabric softener
A chill in the air but we have each other to stay warm
Heat that radiates far beyond the confines of this bed
Our most holy place, my body your sacrament,
testament to our devotion to each other
Worship me. Worship this.
Over and over and over again
Bodies churning in concert
Chaos in our sound
Sweat in my eyes from your brow
I need this.
I crave you between the golden hour and the promise of dawn
Right before the sun rises, I want you close to me
in tangled sheets.
Thank you for reading!

I enjoyed this poem, and a lot is working well. The extended religious/holy metaphors in lines 4-6 comes through, and you could even continue that throughout the poem to add to the devotional aspect (if you choose). My favorite phrase was "bodies churning" in line 8, as it's not something you read every day--made me pause and appreciate the use of language.
I see how you chose to end the poem with the "tangled sheets" that started it, but it left something lacking for me. The last line is your last impression, so perhaps you could expand what the tangled sheets represent, or switch to another idea for your ending. Well done.
Thank you for the honest feedback. I am here to improve and will take everything to heart. This was pretty close to being written in “one take” (if that makes sense). I need to revisit my work and be more critical of myself going forward.
This is a thrilling experience, to be able to share my work with a public forum. I haven’t written in a long time and I am getting back into the swing of it.
More to come!
