Has the state fixed the background check that Washington Arms Collectors uses for membership?

Question

It didn't use the middle name but instead it only used the middle initial so there was a duplicate record so I couldn't buy a membership even though I paid for one. I paid cash for the membership, but they wouldn't refund that. I wanted to buy a shotgun because my roommate's boyfriend was threatening her. She got hurt. I feel like it's WAC's fault.

Well, it sounds like you shouldn't have had a gun in the first place. Just running out and buying a shotgun for someone else's self defense isn't responsible gun ownership.

If it's WAC's fault, ask them to fix their mistake, not the state.

I'm guessing they just use a WATCH report? Those only allow for a middle initial and date of birth. That's not really something that can just be fixed by WAC, but if you have a CPL WAC doesn't ask for another background check.

I paid cash for the membership, but they wouldn't refund that.

I'm surprised there isn't someone you can talk to in order to address that issue.

WAC has nothing to do with that. WAC doesn't sell firearms.

She got hurt. I feel like it's WAC's fault.

Talk to an attorney, not to reddit. It sure doesn't sound like WAC's fault, but an attorney can answer that for you.

WAC has nothing to do with that.

But their policies don't allow a membership and to buy at a show because of that. This is their fault. If I pass the federal NICS background check, I should be allowed to pay for a membership and buy a gun.

No one is obligated to sell you a gun.

My understanding of their policy is that they will allow nonmembers to buy at their shows.

Why don’t you just go to a gun shop?

When did this happen?

I was a WAC member years ago. Dropped out because of the high Fudd ratio and lack of anything interesting at the Puyallup shows.

I'm honestly surprised that they're still around since the waiting period with WA's completely ass background check laws kinda defeats the purpose of a gun show. Of course, that's by design.

Once the post-Bruen gun control purge makes it to waiting periods/background checks maybe I'll check out a show again.
