the summer breeze feels best  
when it’s not quite spring

the day the earth warms  
before May flowers or   
the tears that bring the thaw  
when love hasn’t quite written  
yet to be, still smitten

heat to be had

the lines rhyme before reason  
so what season  
should matter before he did?
