Lithium by nirvana, at least the first verse, I allways felt was close to anand sahib's message
Im so happy
This is my interpretation as a Sikh
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends They're in my head
I'm so happy. I found my satguru friend, who resides in my head
I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you Broke our mirrors
I have accepted myself as I am, and no longer judge myself because I dont believe in good and bad deeds. You are also suffering from this distorted mirror, so lets break the mirrors
Sunday morning is everyday, for all I care And I'm not scared
I no longer believe in worship rituals based on bharam of special holy days (Sunday as god's day). Every day is akaal purakh's day. I no longer fear going to hell or being punished for not believing in the bharam
Light my candles in a daze 'Cause I've found God
The figurative jyot in my mind has been lit and now Im absorbed in contemplating akaal purakh. I have found him at last inside myself
Punk is about liberation from rules and so is gurubani.
I love Nirvana, grew up in Washington State so a lot of those lyrics are basically in my blood hahaha. They were my bani before Gurbani during those teenage years.
That's a great Sikhi interpretation! Maybe if Mr. Cobain could have seen it that way he'd still be here.
