Mechanics aren’t needed.
(Sort of an answer to the last post, the question came up, which mechanics are needed to rank up.)
They’re not. I hit GC2 last season and the absolute best mechanic I can do is a semi-decent air dribble and the occasional double tap. My teammates and opponents are hitting flip resets, ceiling plays, musty flicks, etc.
This isn’t to say mechanics won’t help you, ofc they do. But being able to read the game is so much more important.
90% of these flashy plays are easily savable with decent backboard defense, so if you can read your opponent and position yourself accordingly, you can completely negate the enemy‘s mechanics.
If you think you’ve lost a game because of a mechanics difference, watch the replay and really focus on where the opponent placed the shot, and if you could have been able to save it with different positioning.
And on the offense, all you need to do it play the ball around your opponent. Simple flicks or 50/50‘s absolutely enough.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
