why do i cry when i say i love you?
it must be real and deep and unseen or undiscovered
it is pure and pink like a freshly born child
untouched by imperfection or stain.
but it mustn’t be that way
because i am, no, we are too young and too childish and too foolish.
why must i cry as i utter such emotion?
does it pain me?
after so many loving lies
the ‘i love you’ and squeeze like it’s a formality,
like it’s a transaction of necessity
i only love you because you need me to.
you will not allow me to continue without it.
if i don’t love you, will i be yours?
would i be part of you if not for love?
would i be forgotten?
i have to i need to i must love you
who would i be without my love i have been commanded to give unwillingly?
an unspoken promise of loving forever no matter what through anything and everything.
i must be unfaithful.
you are my one tether to the world,
the one that brought me here.
my loving and admirable parent,
thank you
for soiling my love.
