Going to my first live Dead experience next Sunday (DSO Europe 22), but I cannot drop. Would you recommend doing it the day before and go with the afterglow?

As a young, European deadhead, this show by the Dark Star Orchestra will be my first Dead live experience ever. I would love to do some acid during the concert, but I have to drive there 1-2 h, and then back home after it finishes, so this is not viable.

Would you recommend me to do it on Friday/Saturday, so I can go with the afterglow? I'm not extremely experienced with acid, and usually it makes me quite tired the day after. But I basically discovered the Dead through acid, so I'd love to link the two experiences together somehow.

Any recommendation?

Go to the show and smoke some weed if you can. Then listen to the actual show by the Dead in the next few days and trip then. It gives you an opportunity to enjoy the show and really trip to the memory of the show and meld it with the original.

That might be my best bet then

Can you get a room within walking distance or a designated driver?

Agree. Only the Dead could lift the earth. The rest can do bits and pieces at times. Save it. Enjoy. Go home and take a hike and hang with friends

Unfortunately I will go by myself, and I work the morning after, so that doesn't help either

So if I were you, if they allow early gates try and get there as soon as possible and maybe give yourself a 12 hour window so that you could trip at the show. I bet there will be people hanging out in the lots. You might be able to hang for a few hours after the show (if possible) I've never been to DSO but my recent D&Co show i was able to time out mushrooms so I could drive home after.
Acid is definitely a bit tougher, I'm sure plenty of people drive while tripping but I respect your precautions. I'm sure you'll figure out what to do, but tripping and hearing the dead is hard to not pass up. ✌️

Did something similar to OP for the Dead&Co at Philadelphia. 3 hour drive down and 3 back. Dropped almost 2 hours before the show and hung out in the lot for an hour after it was over. I was good to drive home. Of course personal results vary and I understood what to expect from my past experiences.

Being from Europe, don’t you guys have really nice paid time off packages? If this is your first live Dead experience, take the next day off and really enjoy the entire experience.

I’d go enjoy the music sober. See what happens.

Man, there was nothing better than seeing a show, tripping balls and then making the drive to the next city after the show while everyone is wide awake on the come down. There is really no better time to make a drive while you have significantly come down, but are still wide awake. Maybe that practice has changed, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who used to do that

Which one are you going to?

I got a ticket for the Cologne show, would also be the very first live Dead experience for me, but dealing with some mental health issues at the moment so I think I'll save my acid for another time.

I'm also a little nervous about bringing herb with me to Germany, 5 hour train journey from where I live in NL, would be horrible to miss the show because of authorities screwing me over.

Going to Cologne too! In my case is a much shorter drive, but yeah, considering that I will work the day after I will leave the acid for another day.

Are controls very common in the borders? I always thought about getting some stuff like 1C or herbs in NL by car, and diving back to Germany, but never really looked into if it would be safe.

Nice!

I haven't had any issue the few times I went by car with friends, but we would cross the border pretty far up north which is a bit more rural, my old German buddy never had issues bringing herb in the car for what its worth.

The train to Germany is new for me, but I would assume it should be alright as long as I am not that guy in the tie-dye that reeks of weed.

Doesn't everyone walk and take the train in Europe. I used to love driving on acid when I was 16. Just get a bit of ultra violence. Nothing crazy Droog. Hopefully a bit of the Ole in out, in out
