Questions for fellow songwriters: How many songs you usually write before compiling them into an EP?

Thinking of recording an EP and dropping it eventually, sometimes my songs run kind of long so I'm thinking maybe 3-5 at the very most and if I decide to be indulgent that could be like, 25-30 minutes . But other than that, I'm just also generally interested in hearing what's your guys whole process behind this.
