Be Careful, Dog Nutters Are Pushing The Envelope & Engaging In Risky Behavior & Putting The Rest Of Us In Extreme Danger!!!
I live in a very nice condo in Southern CA & for the most part I get along with my neighbors. One neighbor about 3 condos down I speak with him frequently & didn't even know he owned a dog, which is a huge Rottweiler, until last night. So I am outside as usual around 11:00 PM, watching the stars & chilling for awhile before bed & then I see my neighbor come out with this huge Rotti, I've actually owned 2 of them & a pitbull before I became anti dog years ago, & he brings it to the "bathroom spot" which used to be a nice patch of grass across from our garage but is yellow now that everyone who walks their dogs stops there for their dog to pee & crap. It's disgusting & kills the grass.
I suddenly notice that the dog is not leashed & I am wondering why because there is a sign a few feet away on the dog disposal bin with dog waste bags that say to keep your dog curbed & leashed so I am thinking that means keep your dog right next to you. Well this dog pees & craps in the grass & the guy doesn't even bother to pick it up. Then I look up the street & there's a guy with a pitbull about 100-150 feet away & I think the dog is leashed & the owner of the Rotti screams, "hold on, hold on", then he takes the dog in the garage & I guess in the house as well & he comes back out. By this time the guy with the pitbull has come up to the dog spot & his dog pisses & craps & of course he doesn't bother to pick it up either, even though free waste bags & bin are just a few steps away.
When the pit nutter comes to the spot across from my garage & the 1st thing I notice is that there is no leash & as I said he lets it dog pee & crap & of course doesn't bother to pick it up & he's telling the neighbor what a beautiful Rotti that he has, then some friendly back & forth mutt banter & finally walks on down & away.
I just don't get why they are pushing the envelope & engaging in this kind of risky behavior of not having a leash on these big dogs that if they attack you're going to the hospital??? The owners of smaller dogs around here always have their dogs leashed & they are much better about picking up their dog waste. These people don't understand that we don't feed, house or personally know their dogs & these huge dogs, which are known to be vicious, are also unpredictable & I just don't understand why they aren't erring on the side of caution??? It does no good to call law enforcement or animal control & I can't wrap my brain around that because I thought law enforcement was supposed to "prevent" people from being attacked rather than waiting until after someone or some kid is turned into hamburger.
We are now prisoners in our homes & when we do go out we have to be extremely cautious of dogs & their careless & clueless owners & I, along with many others, just don't understand why we have to cede our rights to these disgusting mutants & their disrespectful owners. We are actually losing ground on BSL in many cities that are overturning BSL laws that were put in place because of horrible attacks, that permanently disfigured kids, & now that there are even more horrible attacks they are being overturned & that is actually going backwards & putting the public, including children, in even more danger in communities where the populations of dangerous dogs such as pitbulls is actually growing.
I have no idea how we'll be safe & create a society that is safe for children with these ignorant garbage humans who aren't worthy members of any community or society are influencing politics & laws to this degree. How many people, including kids, have to be sacrificed on the altar of dogs before they stop & wake up??? Why don't they at least err on the side of caution & keep their dog inside or at least leashed for the safety of others??? This maybe a rant & vent but I am genuinely concerned for my safety & the safety of others, does anyone have any ideas on what we might do about this behavior that's a clear public safety issue???
