My one issue with Three Thousand Years of Longing

So what's up with the two (I assume) other djinn Aletheia meets at the beginning? Not only do they never reappear, but they seem to be setting up a very different kind of story than the one we get in the rest of the movie. It ends up looking like running into multiple djinn is just something that happens when you travel to Turkey.
