ITAW for something that only matters to the present moment

Zeitgeist is a great word. The spirit of the times. Like if I watch SNL I feel like I am witnessing the zeitgeist.

Tonight I'm watching baseball and I'm thinking about sports. I recognize that some people will remember all of the details of the game or the team or the season and will enjoy recounting the events and comparing notes.

I won't remember the details of who pitched or who was on the team. But I am enjoying in participating in the journey. Not for any future benefit just for sharing in the moment today. I'm enjoying the consumption as it happens today.

Is there a word for taking in an event or a storyline with no intention to benefit from it outside of participating in the consumption at the time?
