IUD strings cut too short and poking me?

So I've (22 F) had my IUD for nearly 5 years with no issue, but within the last year or so I have noticed that anytime I am feeling turned on (muscles contracting) there is a stabbing/poking pain near my cervix sometimes mild to very intense. I recently learned that my strings are cut to 1cm instead of the normal 2-3 cm after a pap exam. I told my doctor about feeling them and she said I shouldn't be able to but I know that it's the strings since I get a similar feeling whenever I check them to make sure my IUD is in place. Could the strings being too short cause this problem, and should I get a second opinion to maybe get it replaced? It seems sorta silly but it's SUPER distracting in the bedroom! Please help lol I can't find anything online talking about it!
