Die-hard Products to use while on Accutane

I debated whether or not to go on Accutane for over two years - and when I finally decided to, I knew that dry skin was going to be a big issue for me. As someone with existing dry, sensitive skin, I thought I would share the products that I have found work best for me. Not only have I been dealing with extremely dry and flakey skin and lips, I have found my skin is also more sensitive and I often wake up with scratches on my face from tossing and turning in the night which I do not normally experience. For reference, I am currently on month 4 of 6 and taking 60mg daily. I hope this is helpful for some of you!

  1. CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion https://www.cerave.com/skincare/moisturizers/pm-facial-moisturizing-lotionhttps://www.cerave.com/skincare/moisturizers/pm-facial-moisturizing-lotion

This product is advertised as a night-time moisturizer, however, I actually prefer it as my morning moisturizer. For all of those that wear makeup - this is a holy-grail product. It almost immediately treats the areas of my face where I get dry patches (for me it is under my eyes, around my nose and mouth). Wearing makeup can be really frustrating while on Accutane because of the dryness and this product makes my skin look and feel super hydrated.

  1. La Roche Posay Sensitive Riche https://www.laroche-posay.ca/en_CA/toleriane-sensitive-riche/3337875588348.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwyOuYBhCGARIsAIdGQRM8CYUH0_gmWJ59y3GDySMLEjx_p9D-gyQR2DtCDyHAHNcipfK3EfUaAnnBEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

I love this moisturizer at night, whenever I use it I rarely wake up with dry-feeling skin. It is super thick, unlike the CeraVe which is more of a light formula, and a little bit goes a long way. I also love to put a little extra on areas where I get the driest. If I had to choose only one moisturizing product for my skin, this would be it.

  1. La Roche Posay Cicaplast B5 Balm https://www.laroche-posay.ca/en/face-care/face-range/face-cicaplast?gclid=Cj0KCQjwyOuYBhCGARIsAIdGQROEKgMxr3a3D2kO8ruLRgA0bobWLl_8hATHv0o1o1qYSkhjKBf-UcgaAsLREALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

This product has become super popular on social media recently, and it really does live up to the hype for me. For me, I find that any breakouts that I get while on the medication leave behind scarring that doesn't fade, and this product not only reduces breakouts but acne scarring as well. It is nice to have a product that targets acne while not drying out the skin. Additionally, it targets and quickly heals any scratches or cuts you may have on your skin as a result of the skin being more sensitive.

  1. Eucerin - Aquaphor Healing Ointment https://www.en.eucerin.ca/products/aquaphor/aquaphor-healing-ointment

Aquaphor is obviously a staple for everyone when it comes to dry and cracked lips, but I didn't realize until I started Accutane how much of the product I would slather on my lips a million times a day. If I don't moisturize my lips nearly every moment of the day, they become extremely tight and cracked, and I ended up buying a huge tub of it after running out of the small tube super quickly. I'll definitely be using Aquaphor as a go-to for my lips even after my cycle with Accutane ends.
