Dental appointments- some questions!
Hey everyone. I am currently on Wellbutrin and Zoloft. I just… at 4 days shy of my 41st birthday, am now looking into getting my teeth looked over (life pro tip: NEVER WAIT UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE) and I am having a HARD time controlling my anxiety while I have had my first two visits.
The first visit was an emergency visit, decayed wisdom tooth that was killing me. They took it out that day and when I tell you I was SHAKING in fear with tears streaming, my heart rate was in the 150s. It was bad. I thought I was going to pass out. My dentist helped me relaxing with breathing exercises. It was mortifying.
Today I had an exam and they set up the “plan” for my teeth. First up is a root canal, and then separately a cleaning, but a more intense than normal cleaning bc of my plaque, THEN more X-rays, THEN teeth pulled, THEN crowns, THEN filllings…it is a loooong road ahead . I requested sedation for my first few visits because of how I apparently am in the dentist’s chair.
I will have laughing gas and halcion for the first two visits. Thing is- halcion? For one pill? 250.00. Yep. It’s because I have to do it at my dentist’s office I guess?
My question is. I have followup appointment with my psychiatrist next week to discuss meds. Is it possible to ask for heavy anti anxiety meds JUST for when I need to go to the dentist? Can I straight up ask for Valium for this upcoming visits you think?
Thank you for reading my rambling. I have been very upset tonight think about how much this will cost, and how stressful it is going to be.
