Changed 'Making The Grade'?

Just did that level on NM, and the bit with the ogre is ridiculously hard now. Infinite ridden, chain spawns of specials, there's no way to even get to the ogre at this point because there's so much spawning.

Is this a bug, or intentional? It's making a part of the game that used to be manageable (a huge boss in a tiny room) completely impossible now.
