A veteran of 2/506 PIR, James Martin jumped into D-Day, Market Garden, and fought all across Europe until the end of the war. He then lived until the age of 101.

May he rest in peace.

Wonder how he will get into heaven with those massive balls

I messaged him a few years ago asking how he stays active. I was aghast at his response. He still ran currahee and fucking chopped wood for the winter

Guy is a treasure

Wonder how he will get into heaven with those massive balls

He's 101st and 506th, he'll make somebody else carry em'

As both I can say it!

Make the 82nd carry it

Or the current 101st, they can sling load him up

We’ve got so few of these guys left. All I can say is this: if you ever have the opportunity to spend some time with one of these guys take it. I work with Honor Flight, and on my first trip I sat on the plane next to a survivor of the Battle of Bulge. That was 4 hours of hearing stories that I treasure.

100% agree w/you. Working in healthcare I’ve had the opportunity to care for vets, while on AD and on the civilian side. Took care of one WW2 vet, severely injured on Christmas day in the Battle of the Bulge. Another patient was a POW in Germany. Their stories are powerful and I always appreciate when they choose to share some of their experiences.

I grew up in a neighborhood full of these guys. When I became legal my dad took me to their watering hole on Saturday mornings.

I cherish the time I spent growing up around these studs.

No. That was Johnny Martin who passed awhile back unfortunately. Pee Wee Martin served in the 505th I believe. Still a legendary badass with or without a book and TV show.
