Pretty sure its never been map owner thing, just someone had to be present.

I know I have killed peoples elders and cortexs without them present and never had issue collecting loot.

edit: maven invites may require map owner, not sure there.

Yep, and yet some people are trying to spread misinformation. Just look at me being downvoted.

Downvote bots 100%. I've been downvoted for telling people to have a great league start lol

or like when everyone was getting awards on this sub for any post after some minutes by bots :D

I am 100% this thing with downvoting happens because of bots

12

Idk why, thats just this reddit or maybe bots.

You can make a new post or look at any new post and see it instatly gets downvoted to like 30%

Well it must have been patched/changed then. I did a fuckton of carries for my friends. Mostly because they dont care about boss but want the favor and stones. Have you tested the tutorial version of the bosses? Last league it was for sure that they didnt drop loot if owner wasnt there

6
LighthadesThe Rip Team•

Im pretty sure that elder and Sirus at some point needed the instance owner to be there

5
ChromaticRED•

The odd thing is I helped someone with their Exarch. They died, left the instance... and it dropped nothing.

5
rip_ap_yiKaom•

I know there is a thing that if the boss dies with no one in the instance no loot is dropped saw a clip like that last league

4
SherriffB•

Downvotes are the new upvote.

2
Nikxed•

I know Maven requires the owner to start the fight, she'll just float there looking at you until the owner comes in to start it haha. Good to know these bosses aren't like that though.

2
sadness255•

Tbf saying they are trying to spread misinformation sound pretty rude, I'm betting a few downvote come from how you say thing.

0†

Na I saw him posting before ppl argue with him even after evidence. If its not notorious misinformation it's so fukin toxic and childish to not see that you were wrong and keep pushing that false information.

0†

If it's the quest one the boss doesnt drop anything If the instance owner is absent

14
redslugah•

edit: maven invites may require map owner, not sure there.

pretty sure, i finished one the formed for my friend, his tree have all invitation nodes allocated, all release at once, invitation rare with good quatity, usually yield 8~ splinter, dropped 0.

4
roky1994•

Yeah doing the whole fight is fine, but sometimes its buggy if the map owner dies and respawns outside when the boss dies (he is not in the map and was before).

Otherwhise i have no idea who is spreading misinformation for boss carrys.

2
sirusplayer•

I think its a misconception because of Sirus back in the day. You had to be in the map for loot to drop.

1
tracehunterOP•

Unlike a misinformation heavily spread (e.g. in the most recent post: https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/xgaoar/am_i_dumb_or_is_it_actually_possible_for_this/ ), the eater of world, the burning exarch and their respective minibosses do drop even if the map opener isn't present.

This isn't the case for Maven's invitations (atlas, etc) where at least some items don't drop if the owner isn't present.

I don't know if this is also the case for quest invitations.

Sorry for the crap cropping of the video, I'm always playing in windowed mode.

taggedjc•

Might it be that the person/people who were present when initiating the fight need to be present?

I've seen various reports of a boss killer not getting drops if the owner dies and revives before the drops happen. I don't think they're all lying?

15
tracehunterOP•

There may be an explanation, but it's not the presence/absence of the map owner which causes it.

There's no drop if noone is inside while the boss die I believe. However this is against the carry's narrative, who says he didn't die.

1†
roky1994•

Had it happen a few times, but its very specific to dupe it. First yes the map owner needs to start the boss alone, than when he dies and respanwns outside -> when the boss carry comes and kills it, it may not drop any loot, if the map owner is not in the instance.

TDLR: if your getting a carry on a failed attempt to kill the boss, stay dead inside the map.

8
tracehunterOP•

Yeah it might be a rare occasion or if you take a specific res option. Or maybe even if the party leader isn't the map opener or some weird combo.

But as you say, it's safer to stay dead inside anyway. You never know if they'd pick the expensive loot and just leave the trash if you're outside...

3
taggedjc•

If you aren't in the map owner's party when they open the invitation, does the loot still drop? Assuming they never go in themselves?

1
tracehunterOP•

Yep, I just tried.

Opened the map before I was in party. Got invited. Entered. Left party.

3
DBrody6•

Might it be that the person/people who were present when initiating the fight need to be present?

Definitely not the case, I bought an Uber Sirus kill from a carry in Sentinel, they had already started the fight and bricked it after I joined, then after they burned the last portal they left the map and I finished the kill myself. Still got the loot.

1
8Humans•

Might it be that the person/people who were present when initiating the fight need to be present?

That isn't the case either, I have done Maven carries where the person enters too late and loot still drops.

1
MedifragSaboteur•

I am pretty sure that the quest invitations don't drop anything if the owner isn't present and thus doesn't complete the quest.

A friend and I tested it last league. I figured it's pretty obvious why. Even the quest invitations have a chance of giving you rare boss drops, and quest invitations can be generated much more easily, so to prevent abuse no loot is generated.

9
Dedoru•

Did you test this with the quest versions?

4
tracehunterOP•

No, this was done with regular invitations (the most used I assume).

1
Aldodzb•

Why do you play in windowed mode?

-2

Personal convenience/preference, to each their own. It's easier to have the browser next to it while trading.

5
Aldodzb•

Oh that means you have a wide screen monitor, I see

-2
laughinmanx•

You should be downvoted for the misinformation you provide on POE.

-6†
tracehunterOP•

It's not? I specified for what it is and that I don't know how quest one work.

2
laughinmanx•

Your title is just wrong though.

The quest version the owner does have to be in the fight, so false information already.

Additionally, name one instance or fight where the map owner needs to be in the fight for a tradable version of the fight in order for it to drop loot? Shaper / uber elder / any guardian / any conqueror / etc... None

If you can trade it, it's not linked to the owner - obviously. So posting something like this is incredibly obvious. Which is fine if you specified the conditions that this is not the case, which you didn't. Your title is wrong and false information so yes, you should be downvoted.

1†
laughinmanx•

You are correct & incorrect, but dangerous in the fact you posted shit like this.

This is also extremely obvious and you shouldn't be posting shit you don't know about. You are the one spreading misinformation.

The quest version of the fights the owner HAS to be in the map for both the loot to drop & the progression.

This is obviously not the quest version since it says "modifiers to IQ affect the...." which is the tradable version, so why would the owner need to be in the map for a tradable version?

EDIT I boss kill carry in HC trade and know wtf I'm talking about, unlike you it seems who just want some attention on reddit

I've been playing POE for a long ass time, people spread misinformation or don't know what they're talking about and others just back them up - so on the off chance I come in and provide accurate information, a lot of the time it opposes the information given in the thread and therefore I'm downvoted.

I came across harsh in my reply, but I really really hate seeing people do shit like this - and then to be so hypocritical to say "there's been misinformation about this" is just fucking insane to me.

4
Boredy0•

Are people in this sub that stubborn that once they make up their mind they downvote all opposing arguments?

This is the PoE sub, of course they are.

2

but dangerous in the fact you posted shit like this.

You clearly have no clue what the word dangerous means lol.

-3†
Lasditude•

Misinformed, ill-advised, poorly considered or reckless would maybe be better words.

But this thread should definitely start with a 'I don't know anything about quest invitations' disclaimer, as that then explains that this thread is irrelevant in regards to the "rumours".

11
[deleted]•

1
MostAnonEver•

But thats always been the case and idk why thats a rumor. The thing we all know and unless it has changed this league is that if the boss "dies" while youre out of the map, loot doesnt spawn.

7
tracehunterOP•

I guess either people know about the Maven's invitation behaviour and they just assume it works the same (it doesn't), or they make up things or it's dishonest carry who pick the loot and come up with that lame excuse.

As you say that's the only reason for no loot in one of these. (I do believe maven's invitation won't have Maven's writh shards if the host isn't present though)

7
taggedjc•

I'm actually surprised that it doesn't work the same as Maven/Venarius/Elder/Shaper. Does Sirus work the same as well?

1
tracehunterOP•

Most of these work that way in fact. Boss which don't drop while the owner is absent are a minority, not the norm.

1
hitokiri99•

Totally unrelated but I see you are a flicker enjoyer. Do you mind sharing your pob? I am an unhappy flicker camper and am not entirely sure how to make work without farrul (which you may have) or red tail...

I know many people say you don't NEED those items for frenzy sustain but it does feel like it...

7
buddyruff•

You can make it work with oros sacrifice, to get you going until you farm up what you want.

1

No drops occur the quest version of those invitations , unless it was changed this league.

6
bismarkbutt•

Title was annoying to read. Exarch, Eater and their respective miniboss drop loot even if the instance owner is absent from the fight. (Despite a recent post saying they don't) There are more specifics to it probably.

4
Thiengy•

Other article stated that it was the quest version and the leader did not join until after death which explains why there was no loot. If loot dropped without owner being present, owner could run one more map to get a new quest invitation and repeat for unlimited loot. Not dropping loot unless owner progresses quest prevents this from being abused.

However, a standard invitation should drop loot without host being present as the invitation is consumed and there is no opportunity for abuse.

I believe you are being downvoted because you are adding to the confusion by using a standard invitation to prove the other article is spreading misinformation when the quest version was used there.

2
Arno1d1990•

It's not a "rumor", it's a fact. We just seems to don't know exact conditions why it's happening, maybe it's a bug. I had same thing in 3.18, my guildmate died 4 times on Eater of worlds and I came to help, he was in h/o and I've entered portal and killed Eater, literally 0 loot dropped. And I never saw 0 loot from these bosses before and after, at least some white-magic-rare gear always drops.

_RrezZ_•

Most people who buy these carries and supply their own map are on the quest version in which case the owner would need to be present for the quest to actually complete.

If they buy a carry from someone else and already did the quest and it's the carries map it doesn't matter.

Even if it doesn't require the owner to be in the map it doesn't really matter because most carries will call the person in anyways when the boss is about to die so that they get the 2+ person quant/rarity when it dies.

A lot of people buying these carries are probably buying the Uber version for the challenge or buying Uber Elder or Maven for the watchstones.

For watchstones they need to be present for it to drop I'm pretty sure, as for the challenges they also need to be present to get credit for that as-well I believe.

So in the end it's just easier to have them be present when the boss dies to avoid any issues.

Literally just takes the carry 1 second to type "in" and the person to click a portal so maybe 3-5 seconds tops. Not to mention they get immunity for like 5-10 seconds upon entering so if the carry has enough DPS they can just enter at the start and the carry will insta-kill the boss before immunity is over.

1
IkzDeh•

Could it be carrys snatching the loot and disguise it as a bug? Never had the issue since i dont Take carrys.

-1

did you have the map owner enter then leave the zone?

So... it turns out those bosses can drop literally nothing.
