Bedtime Confession
A simple man's desire buried deep beneath
My silver-plated tongue cradled in it's sheath
For i can never express what I truly crave
I can never admit that I was never brave
There is nothing I can do besides witnessing
So many things I want to mention without addressing
For I need only a moment, yet never enough to speak
And I fear every word I want to say sounds weak
Therefore I only say what must be said
This beast of uncertainty howling every time it's fed
All the curses and crosses and a rosary burned
All my antagonism when I leave no stone unturned
Every word of hatred and all my grandstanding
All my addictions and the pain not worth withstanding
The self inflicted cuts and every bruise by my own fist
And the sins too numerous to list
The nights spent alone despite owing my heart
Every time I promise I will keep up once I start
All the facts that were never enough to convince
Despite me knowing and making sure everyone knew since
All the lies I spun and the masks I crafted
Every poem burned and stories merely drafted
They're all gone now and I'm without a past
I'm chained to my own mistakes, but I'm free at last

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).
If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.
If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our feedback guide, or look through the comment sections of any other post here, or click the links to the author's feedback above. If you're not sure whether your comments are feedback, or you have any other questions, please send us a modmail.
