Profile missing for Topaz DNGs
When I open a Canon R6 CR3 file in Lightroom Classic, the profile "Adobe Color" is enabled and "Adobe Landscape," "Adobe Portrait," etc, are available. If I process that CR3 file with DxO PureRAW, and import the resulting DNG, I get the same result.
However, if I process the CR3 with Topaz Sharpen AI or DeNoise AI, the profile "Color" (not "Adobe Color") is selected and only the "Color" and "Monochrome" are available.
Also, if I process the DxO DNG file again with Topaz (which is my desired workflow) I get the "Profile missing" message with "Adobe Standard" selected, with only "Color" and "Monochrome" available.
I assume Topaz is mangling some exif tags? Can I change them back? Can I somehow set a tag in the files to allow the "Adobe Color" profile to work? Thanks!
Edit: here are my findings and workaround:
For anyone who cares, it looks like Topaz-written DNGs may just TIFF files with a DNG wrapper. It seems like then whatever profile/color selection Topaz uses is baked into the TIFF embedded in the DNG file and cannot be changed by Lightroom.
The workaround for me is to open the DxO DNG files (which seem like actual RAW DNGs, without embedded an profile) in Lightroom, choose my desired profile, then use "Edit In > Topaz ..." to apply that profile to the image before Topaz touches it.
