Chicken nuggets with ketchup

When i was just a kid

I made fun of other kids

for eating their chicken nuggets with ketchup

they even let me try as a favor and i cringed at the flavor

but they were so used to the way it tastes

because when dads not around to put food on the table

and moms just a waitress who does what it takes

and sneaks back some snacks when she can

there's no guarantee that the fridge'll be stocked

unless you're talking about free condiment packets

so for them its sandwiches with ketchup

or leftover breadsticks for breakfast

​

but i didn't know

hell, they didn't know

'cause we were just kids

eating chicken nuggets with ketchup.
