It is suddenly in an alien environment and keeps trying to perform its normal tasks and habits that used to work like clockwork like an insect trying to suck nectar from a plastic flower still stuck in the ground in a deserted garden and starving in confusion not understanding it’s comical or not knowing it’s futile and she’s already extinct the last elephant in heat becoming sultry with some man in a suit who’s just there in this cage to capture some kind of picture or code or experiment or to preserve a memory for some fictitious future where failed regenerated genomes can see the light of life again as if they weren’t a 13 billion year miracle on a precipitous pinnacle it’s the stupid dream of an old man who applies logic and methods that he learnt in a world that had structure and rules and dependable regularity and wasn’t collapsing where machines could be fixed and seasons rolled and rolled and had children and had grandchildren that would come and take care but he doesn’t have those like an abandoned dog in a kennel watching people passing by he tries a tentative smile and lifts his eyebrows and looks up but then looks down he just doesn’t understand he really tried but it doesn’t make sense what is happening why is it all wrong I don’t understand I don’t understand please someone help me please.
