is there a way to have friends without having to have them as Facebook friends? I'd love to borrow, lend, and complete this challenge, but nobody I know on Facebook plays this game... argh!

Curiosity, these ppl are suggesting groups you can join through Facebook, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying! I'm getting the impression you're not on Facebook at all! It might be the way I'm reading it! 🤷🏼♀️
I am on Facebook, but don't want to just friend a bunch of random people. I think that's why they're suggesting the groups, they are more private. :)

If you can, set up a separate FB page for the groups—you’ll have to link your DH account to that one. If you can’t or don’t want to, join a private group, group posts are not shared with your RL friends and visa-versa. Just make sure you post within the group. I joined Design Home Friends. People are willing to accept and ask for friend requests. FB has a glitch that will send random requests to friends of friends, so before accepting, I look at a person’s profile and do a search to see if they’re in the group. I hear that you can also use your privacy settings to keep your DH friends separate, but Idk how to do that. If you want, message me & I’ll send you a link to my FB page. I don’t have a lot of good stuff, but you’re welcome to it! 😃

I'm happy to friend anyone on Facebook so they can borrow from me if you Pm me. Facebook is the only way to have game friends.
Search for Design Home groups on Facebook. I like Design Home Together because only the mods post, and mainly just the challenges, so it’s not a lot of clutter. I try to stay off Facebook these days, but found that group to be friendly and low drama. They have a pinned post for friends.
