NEC DT 300 Off System, "Initializing" at Power Up

Hey there--

I have about 100 NEC DT300's that I need to test. When I power the phone up, the LCD Screen shows "Initializing". Is this normal behavior without a system to initialize to? Does anyone know if there might be a diagnostic mode or self-test?
