That’s Life

Poem

We rushed off into the world Everyone has to be a winner Our degrees to big to fail And yet we find ourselves in the winter Some say shed the materials But the wood that makes our house isn’t free Some say do your passion But does passion put fruit on the table Debt chains me down in the land of the free

They say wealth is in the mind and not the pocket Does spirituality bring me closer to happiness Will it cover the expenses of my mortality How far can scrappiness bring me Before I forfeit the very values that make me, me Will I be rich and happy or rich and sad, sad and rich or sad and poor My head spins as my feelings pour out

I feel my confines come tighter The castle I built has come under siege Will I ever reach the level of prestige I so desperately need
