This! This poem has me snapping for you OP. You perfectly reel in the reader with the concept of dreams being made up of people’s faces we’ve seen, and connected it brilliantly back to your curiosity in other’s dreams. But the closing line, “a million lives instead of just my one.” Is a relatable sentiment to leave off on. Very well done!

Thanks for the feedback! You make a good point, that line is probably unnecessarily wordy. The extra "I think" at the beginning of the sentence adds some uncertainty, questioning whether I really would like to think it's true, but could probably be written differently to better convey the ambivalence.

I really like the sentiment...a nice concept.

Criticism?....a couple things that could go away and not change anything....

I think I would like to think that...could just be...... I would like to think...

I get  sometimes writing in a voice that would say things like that...we do repeat ourselves certainly, if that is your intent then I apologize

Seems every time I get on this group I am saying..."you could trim that a bit"...but overall an original idea

They say everyone in your dreams is made  
up of the faces of people you’ve seen.   
I don’t know if I believe that. It seems   
  like something you could claim  
  and nobody could dispute.

  I think I’d like to think it’s true.   
  Because then I can wonder   
  about my dream alter egos and  
  what they are doing,  
  what havoc they’re wreaking,  
  what words they are speaking,  
  in other people’s dreams.

  If they are  
  the villains,   
  the heroes,   
  the love interests,  
  the faces in a crowd.  
  If they get to do the things  
  I only dream about.
