Rock collection (pls give criticism)

Poem

I collect rocks, some big, some small

I won’t stop until I have them all

I find them in forests, and meadows, too

I clap with joy when I find one that’s new

Sometimes the rocks are given right to me

But when that’s the case I can’t enjoy them fully

When I look at those rocks, I see someone I don’t care about

But when I look at the others, I see myself making my very own route

But if they’re a gift from a friend, they’re special to me

I put them somewhere that everyone can see

But I’ll always favor every personalized stone

I don’t care if they were given to me or I found them on my own

Sometimes I fixate on just one kind of rock

Like the yellow ones or ones shaped like a block

I want every last one of them

I wish I could find every last one

I want them all

I want them ALL

I WANT THEM ALL

But I’ll NEVER find them all EVER

What’s the point in collecting them if I can’t have every rock there is?

Might as well just stop collecting them at all!

Why do I do this to myself?

This is pointless! Why don’t I just chuck my rocks off a bridge?

For every rock I get, there’s five more I want

I’m never satisfied!

Alas, nobody can have EVERY rock at all

So even if I picked up every one I saw,

Even if I bought every stone in the shop,

I can’t have all of them but that doesn’t mean “stop”.

Even if I only have some, I can still admire them

If I look at them knowing they’re special like gems

Everyone’s rock collection is special in some way

Mine is beautiful and I collect more every day

So maybe it’s not pointless

Maybe it’s okay

As long as our rocks are nice for us

And we keep collecting every day
