Awww nooo, I already got into bed but now I want to check out the lobby one last time to see that.
I know!! I'll turn off wifi on my computer really quickly, then I can look tomorrow, with no worry about getting the update before I can look.

If I'm not mistaken the old lobby (minus some decorations) is from the Unity asset store and there's some porn game on steam that also use it so you will still be able to play in it

Goodbye old lobby, I haven't seen any of the new content but, from stacking the spray cans, to looking out the sky, to the basketball hoop, to the scary lady that says hey loudly in my ear at the door ;c and to hiding in the lockers. It was awesome

As a player from the very beginning, this lobby will have a special place in my heart.
Saying that, the new one looks epic. It's like business is booming and we've finally managed to afford a better, bigger place. My favourite thing so far is display for collectables and can't wait to try out the jenga in VR (apparently it's pretty much unplayable in regular setting).

My wife and I played Asylum for one last hurrah and we just found out you could listen to the boombox in the Lobby. We were so sad we missed it this whole time.

What was the main reason for the devs to change it? I think the whiteboard is a cool idea, way cleaner than the new UI

The devs are gradually going through and removing stock assets from the game and replacing them with custom stuff.
The garage lobby is a very common Unity stock asset. Off the top of my head, I've seen at least Ranch Sim have an exact carbon copy of the room.

Ok, thats reasonable, but current board looks a bit noisy in terms of UX, specially the duck tape for text fields. I would rather just rearrange the old assets into a more unique way instead

Yes. The new update came with a new menu for the game and a new lobby for single/multiplayer servers.

Is there no way to go back or visit the old lobby? It had so much character with the hidden ultra violet, the ghosts and it kinda made the whole thing feel very low budget. But yeah as a long time player the upgrade feels like we are getting more legit and more successful. Personally I would have just made the new lobby an unlockable you can choose to move to after completing a certain number of contracts. That way even new players will feel that progressions.

I hadn't played the game in like 6 months at one point and so when I came back and saw cornhole I was stoked. Went to grab one of my sacks by the door and she scared me half to death 😂 eventually I had to go visit her before every match.
