Harborwalk

Poem

I begin my stroll along the harbor,

past dark glassy water

Sailboats dot the horizon.

Crows chatter among themselves,

osprey perch atop the masts,

herons wade in the shallows

Live music flows from the bar.

Patrons lounge, the air feels alive

as sunset colors paint the sky.

I approach the local pier,

many boats, resting, at home.

Dreams of sailing fill my mind.

Under the mangrove canopy

crabs scurry about my feet

and bunnies hide among the trees.

I reach the end of the path,

turn around, and head straight back.

This place of life and beauty

will always be dear to me.

I'm trying to create a sense of taking the reader with me on a walk through this poem. I think it's a start, but I feel like something is missing, so I'm open to any feedback you have.
