I like the rhymes. I feel it would flow better if you removed some of the My’s.

Also ‘shoes pounding on the road’. If you just do shoes pounding road, the rhythmic pattern flows better.

When reading this out loud my voice got louder as the tension builds. Good building to the finale.

I loved the ending. Not racing anyone but yourself. Kudos!

Love the ending. A beautiful twist and a moment of self perseverance and personal accomplishment.

I really think you captured the small battles in life that make us our own individual selves, it makes me believe in myself and trust myself to commit to my passions

I feel this is a motivation I needed to complete a lot of this I've been keeping aside. I really loved it.

I really liked the rhyming scheme of your poem. Initially it gave me vibes to the short story How much land does a man require but then I realise that it has a different turning and ending. Thank you for sharing this. Keep writing.

I think that this comparison of running is a good allegory about many things.

There is an emphasis on the struggles of running, especially over a hill, but the runner's high is also catching as if the body itself wants to encourage the writer to push on.

And despite the continuous effort and fatigue, the writer keeps on going and when the finish line comes, the writer cheers that he/she has reached it, regardless of how much time it took

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. I enjoyed the vibe of this poem. I found the pace and rhyme playful. Thematically it conjured my own thoughts when faced with a laborious or tedious task. It’s just me against me. Great poem!
