Overdose
I overdosed today.
Not on heroin or alcohol.
But on a different kind of painkiller.
The one that silently takes you captive
And never let's you go.
.
I overdosed today.
Not on fentanyl or benzos.
But on a drug that is far too deadly.
The one that feeds your veins lies
Until you beg for its mercy.
.
I overdosed today.
Not on meth or cocaine.
But on the injection that kills the lonely.
Today, I overdosed on sadness.
And I didn't even say goodbye.
.
Hi all! My newest piece, Overdose, is a suicide awareness poem of how important mental health is and how anyone can "overdose" on sadness. We talk about overdose as a purely drug related incident, but I also see it as a form of emotional consumption when sadness becomes too much. This overdose can be interpreted as both depression, SH, suicide or more. But I hope to bring awareness of the difficulties of fighting this and how we can overcome it together because we are never alone.
