[REC]looking for light novels feel similar to Naoki Urasawa's manga?

I'm looking for light novels feel similar to Naoki Urasawa's works? Suspense and mystery style of narrative, with horror thrown in, also focusing on the characters?

One-shots (these are actually regular novels but are very good if you like Urasawa’s style of complex and suspenseful mysteries, with horror):

  • Another * (and it’s spin off and sequel)
  • The Dark Maidens
  • The Summer of the Ubume

Series:

  • The Empty Box and Zeroth Maria *

The two novels marked * are with supernatural elements. Not sure if you are only looking for traditional/honkaku mystery or not. 😉

Durarara or Baccano might suit.
