Life is Good
Walking the plank to marina blues, interrupted by subtle sailboat pleas to take a breather
To hear sun basking seagull preachers
To see life in these rubber ducks bobbing to Superior’s wake, scheming for bread
These leaky steam pipes clammer in midwestern keys, soaking papyrophobia
Sturgeon no doubt laugh at my expense
.
Take in giant’s advice and his children’s despair
Take in Sal and Co.
Take in the road in which you paved and painted, that swan dives into baylife’s nectar
Take in rotted grain for remediation
Take in the broken sticks, skins, and strings
Take in Prince Arthur’s ghost
.
Sift through these fossil-blood clumped sands,
Blow silver hour’s glass, and wake the giant at his peak

Hi! I really like this poem <3 I love poetry that's cryptic in a way that only the author will ever completely understand what exactly the poem is about but the readers can have a FIELD DAY analyzing this. The stanza repeating "Take in __" is beautiful, the repetition adds a lot and really nails home the connection between the title and the content of the poem. "Blow silver hour's glass, and wake the giant at his peak" is such a beautiful line, and so mysterious it holds my attention for minutes even after I've finished reading. Keep it up!!
Thank you for the kind words! Much love.
