Review:
This book is much the same as the first book, in terms of LI’s and characters. Olivia’s redemption is well done, and I enjoy literally every interaction with her throughout the entire book. Also, Maxwell becomes a LI in this book, which caught me off guard, honestly. Not that it doesn’t make sense, but I honestly had him pegged as being in the same vein as Zach or Diego, you know, your usual gay best friend type of character. I’m not complaining though, as he works quite well as a LI, although the option to romance him does take until near the end of the book. As for the overall plot, I rather enjoyed the whole mystery aspect. Finding out who framed you is a neat conflict, and I love how you have to follow a whole trail of subordinates to find out the true culprit. On that same note, screw Constantine. Madeline is better in this book than the first one, not because she’s any less obnoxious, but because she is merely a secondary antagonist in this book, meaning she is far more tolerable overall. The Bertrand - Savannah plot is interesting, although I think Drake is far too harsh to poor Maxwell, and also Bertrand really sucks at communicating omg. One thing I don’t like is the ending. I hate, hate, hate having to reject Liam to get with any of the other LIs. The whole book has him pretty much panting at your feet, only for you to reject him to get with Maxwell/Drake/Hana. The fact that you can still have sex with him after is really funny to me though. Also, I still don’t like the genderlock, and am taking my usual point off for it. Overall, though, this book is still incredibly enjoyable, with a charming cast of characters and a plot that holds your attention decently throughout.
