[DeI Mod] Should you use your faction leader as a general from the start of the campaign?

The faction leader is maxed out already, right?

Wouldn't an option be to let him stay a statesman to gain influence for the party? Other than making him a governor...

The faction wide buffs are effective whether he's a statesman or genral, right?

My only point is, unlike the other generals you don't need to raise his rank to improve his loyalty so having him in battles doesn't seem as important.
