Florentino Perez speech at the General Assembly of Members

“Thank you Paco Gento, for being a legend and example of our club.”

“I want to commemorate the victims of a tragedy that occurred in the last few hours in Indonesia, where more than 100 people lost their lives. Our deepest condolences to all their families.”

“We experienced magical nights last season at our stadium which reflects Real Madrid's DNA. We beat PSG, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool.”

“We've won the Champions League 14 times & now we're only thinking about getting 15, that's the mentality of Real Madrid.”

“We have the best youth team in the world & we know how important it is for all Madridistas.”

“I honestly think we have an extraordinary team.”

“Benzema will win the Ballon D’Or, no doubts.”

“Courtois is the best GK in the world & Vinícius Junior received CL’s best young player award last season.”

“9 wins out of 9 at the start of the season, hasn’t happened since 1968. We’re the only team in top 5 leagues to achieve 100% record till now. This is the way.”

“Gracias Marcelo, for your Madridismo & football.”

“Bale, Isco, Jović, Mayoral, thank you for everything.”

“Gareth Bale..”

Whistles from some in the room

“Please, he scored some unforgettable goals & was essential part of our recent history. We thank you very much, Gareth Bale.”

“Thank you Casemiro, one of our great references. From 5 CL’s to UEFA Super Cup with which he said goodbye to us. We thank you very much, Casemiro.”

“We are building the best stadium to make it more profitable. Legends & Sith Street will help us earn more revenue and give us financial strength.”

“The goal is to finish new Bernabéu by next summer. New Bernabéu is one of the largest & most complex projects underway in Europe right now. More than 1,200 people work every day.”

“Nasser Al-Khelaifi said Real Madrid launched the Super League because they’re afraid of competition. Maybe we remind him who Real Madrid is, the most successful club in HISTORY.”

“As per Forbes, Real Madrid is 13th most valuable sports club in the world, we were 5th before. There’s only 3 football clubs in these rankings. They must be doing something very well in USA while very badly, here in Europe.”

“While paid football subscribers reduced by 40%...platforms like Netflix or Amazon do not stop growing.”

"Football is sick. Young people are less and less interested. We are LOSING the global entertainment battle."

“New Champions League model UEFA are proposing will only aggravate the problem.”

"If UEFA was responsible for world tennis, we would only see a Nadal vs Federer match twice or thrice."

“Nadal-Djokovic has been played 59 times, is that boring? Real Madrid & Liverpool, only 9 times in 67 years. What's the point of depriving fans of these matches?”

“Football needs professional, modern & transparent for everyone. We must stop the deterioration of football. That's why we took the step of offering a competition like the Super League.”

“The Superliga would not be a closed competition. It would have 25% of it’s places open.”
