Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our [feedback guide](https://new.reddit.com/r/ocpoetry/wiki/feedbackcritiques), or look

Wow! I was immediately pulled into the ominous texture of this piece. I love the parallel between unpalatable food and "looks better left off the table". It took me a few reads to take a stab at exactly what's going on. I'm always a fan of raw emotion mixed with language crafted with metaphor and tacit analogies. I may be totally off but is the speaker poisoning the subject of the piece? Great piece, I feel that you could even flesh it out a bit more with more examples of the mysterious, austere dynamic between these two people.

wow. this hits hard... i didn't vomit to compensate for my overeating when i was bulimic, but nonetheless, it really takes you in into the mind of someone who struggles with their relationship with food every meal. the only thing i would suggest is not the repeat "elixir" twice; i usually don't like to repeat words more than once unless it's purposeful, and to me using "elixir" sounds redundant... let's try to find another word to replace it. :)

otherwise, great job!

goodbye and good luck!
