I’ve seen posts about this, but it doesn’t work for me. How does the teleported work for resources?

What I expected: get the upgrade to teleport resources, drop them on top of the teleporter, they get sent to the base.

What happens: get the upgrade, drop resources on top of teleporter, they fall everywhere making a mess and wasting a TON of time instead of saving a ton of time.
