I want my bf to propose without actually telling him I want him to propose to me

I know it sounds stupid but I see everyone around getting married or having kids but my bf is just different he always talks about it but doesn't actually want to do anything...he always asks questions like if I know my ring size or if i'd like to have wedding in church or if I've ever thought about my wedding dress but when i ask if he is actually going to propose he just says "no i need more time" but I don't understand why he asks this type of questions if he's not going to do anything and i don't want to get married in my 30's as he may expect and i just don't know how to tell him that i want him to propose to me...i admit that i'm jealous of my friends...and i just know that i want to be with him for the rest of my life, he is my soulmate and i can't imagine my life without him...FYI: you don't have to tell me...I know I'm the A-hole in this situation...
